Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July! Thank you to those whom protected our freedoms and those whom continue to do so every day. Without your sacrifice, bravery, and dedication we would not be the wonderful country that we are! Thank you!

I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with friends and family!

Happy Fourth!

Fourth of July Mini Faux Firecracker Treat Holders

You will never guess what today's Fourth of July mini faux firecracker treat holders were inspired by - a toilet paper roll. There are so many great craft ideas that can be made with a toilet paper roll. Don't worry these treat holders were inspired by the shape of them and not don't use actual toilet paper rolls.

Fourth of July 4th of July mini faux firecracker treat holders

I was trying to design a new container shape for a Fourth of July celebration. I have made a lot a boxes, bags, and wrappers over the years. I was really stumped for new ideas.

Fourth of July 4th of July mini faux firecracker treat holders

I brainstormed all of the symbols, colors, traditions, etc. associated with the Fourth of July. I kept coming back to firecrackers. I have made firecracker treat holders before, but not as the container themselves. I kept thinking what shapes do we have that I can make a firecracker shape from. What shape is a firecracker? The same shape as a toilet paper roll, and you can roll designer series paper to make a tube. This treat holder is what I came up with.

Fourth of July 4th of July mini faux firecracker treat holders

I rolled a 3" x 3" piece of Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper and adhered the ends together with both Tear & Tape Adhesive and liquid glue. I am not good at lining up edges of paper, so I used liquid glue to provide a little more time to work with the Tear & Tape Adhesive.

The scalloped circles are adhered to the top and bottom of the rolled designer series paper. The designer series paper edges are pretty narrow, so I scored 1/2" from each end and snipped every 1/4" or so to make tabs for the scalloped circles to adhere to. The tabs act almost like mini platforms for the scalloped circles to sit on.

Below is my first firecracker treat holder prototype. I used a scalloped circle that was just too small to fit the designer series paper tube onto, and the sparkler is huge. However, there is a better view of the tabs that hold the scalloped circle onto the designer series paper in this photo. Look at the top scalloped circle on the right side.

The sparklers are made with narrow strips of Silver Foil Paper adhered together in an asterisk shape. The bottom of the sparkler stem is scored to create a place to put adhesive and glue it to the top of the treat holder.

Below are the measurements and supplies to recreate these Fourth of July mini firecracker treat holders.

The Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper pack is a 48-sheet pack of patterned paper that will be a HOST special in the upcoming July-December Mini Catalog. The July-December Mini Catalog will debut on July 1st. I know that is not a lot of time to place a qualifying order for this designer series paper. However, I wanted to share with you the versatility of this paper pack not only for fall and winter holidays but for summer holidays too. I know you are going to love the Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper.

For today's faux firecracker treat holders, I recommend substituting with another designer series paper or stamping a 6" x 6" piece of Basic White cardstock with the solid flower image from the Color and Contour stamp set (#154994) to create a firework pattern.

I hope you enjoyed today's mini faux firecracker treat holders and make them for your Fourth of July celebration! If you would like to recreate this treat holders and need some supplies, please, shop my online store HERE

Fourth of July Mini Cupcake Sparkler Decorations

My family and I are having a get together on the Fourth of July. I wanted to bring something for dessert that would be fun and festive. I saw these patriotic mini cupcakes at the grocery store and could not resist! To make these even more celebratory, I created sparkler cupcake toppers with Real Red and Pacific Point cardstock and toothpicks to decorate each of the mini cupcakes.

Fourth of July 4th of July mini cupcake sparkler toppers decorations cupcake decorations

Two types of mini cupcakes came in the package - chocolate cake with marshmellow icing and vanilla cake with blue tinted vanilla frosting. Both varieties are topped with red, white, and blue sprinkle stars. Could they not get cuter than that?

Fourth of July 4th of July mini cupcake sparkler toppers decorations cupcake decorations

These sparklers came together quickly and easily. I made about twenty in less than 15 minutes, including preparation time. To make more use of my cardstock scraps, I used long strips of scraps. I cut them to a 1-1/4" width and followed the steps 1-6 below. Then I cut the strips into 2" long pieces.

Fourth of July 4th of July mini cupcake sparkler toppers decorations cupcake decorations

To make the sparkler cupcake decorations:

  1. First, gather your supplies and cut your cardstock.
  2. Then with the 1-1/2" side parallel to the paper trimmer's bottom ruler, score the cardstock at 1/4".
  3. Fold and burnish the score line. This score line is to help the sparkler ends to puff out into a ball shape and to also know where to stop cutting the sparkler ends.
  4. Curl the cardstock with a bone folder. This will help you roll the sparkler more easily.
  5. Cut fringe along the 2" side, stopping at the score line.
  6. Place Tear and Tape Adhesive along the scored area on the back of the sparkler.
  7. Remove the adhesive backing and add a line of liquid glue. This will help the wooden toothpick stick better and give you more maneuverability to roll up the cardstock.
  8. Let the toothpick sit in the liquid glue for a few seconds. Then roll up the cardstock. Hold the end of the cardstock for a few seconds to help the cardstock adhere in place.
  9. Shape the sparkler by bringing the fringed ends of the cardstock down and out in a semi-spherical shape.
  10. Add the sparkler decoration to your mini cupcake.

Fourth of July 4th of July mini cupcake sparkler toppers decorations cupcake decorations

Because I used mainly long scraps for these sparkler decorations, there would be some cardstock left over that was not quite 2" long. One strip of cardstock only had about 1-1/4" left. So, I thought why not try it and see how full and puffy a 1-1/4" strip of cardstock would be. You can see in the photo below that the 1-1/4" strip of cardstock is not as full or as puffy as the 2" strips of cardstock, but it still looks really cute!

It would be fun to experiment with different lengths of cardstock to see which length makes the sparkler size and shape that you like the best!

Fourth of July Fireworks and Daisy Lane Treat Holders

Get your Fourth of July celebration ready with these patriotic treat holders! I created three different treat holders for your cookout - a mini treat box topped with a patriotic gerber daisy, a matchbox with cardstock firecrackers, and a peanut butter cup treat bag with bunting tag topper.

Craft with Beth: Stampin' Up! Fourth of July 4th Patriotic 3D treat holder matchbox Medium Daisy Punch Daisy Punch Punch Art Tag Tag Topper Gift Packaging Party Favors Mini Treat Box Circle Punch Scalloped Circle Punch Fireworks Mini Firework Embellishments gerber daisy

First up is a cello bag filled with patriotic peanut butter cups topped with a banner and fireworks tag.

The banner/bunting image is from the Above the Clouds stamp set (Item #149404). I stamped the banner image four times across the tag and hand wrote "Happy 4th of July!" on the pennants with a Lovely Lipstick Stampin' Write Marker (Item #147159 2018-2020 In Color Stampin' Write Markers). The fireworks are from the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set (Item #151260).

I used the retired 2" by 8" cellophane bags. I love this size for making treat holder! I was sure to stock up when they were retiring this past June. However, you find a similarly sized cellophane bag at local craft stores and online.

To create the belly band around the tiny clear treat box (Item #141699), I cut a 3/4" by 11" piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the strings of stars stamp from the Making Christmas Bright stamp set (Item #148046) along the length of the belly band. Then I put Tear and Tape Adhesive at one 3/4" side end on top of the stamped images. To finish the belly band, I wrapped the cardstock around the box, starting at the center of the top of the box and creasing at each box edge. The belly band is secured in place in the center of the box top. Any excess cardstock can be trimmed at this time. The belly band join is covered by the patriotic daisy embellishment.

Craft with Beth: Stampin' Up! Fourth of July 4th Patriotic 3D treat holder matchbox Medium Daisy Punch Daisy Punch Punch Art Tag Tag Topper Gift Packaging Party Favors Mini Treat Box Circle Punch Scalloped Circle Punch Fireworks Mini Firework Embellishments gerber daisy

The daisy embellishment is a combination of layering the two daisy punches, the 1-1/8" scalloped circle punch, and the 1/2" circle punch. Punch 4 daisies using the Daisy Punch (Item #143713) from Real Red cardstock. Punch 4 medium daisies using the Medium Daisy Punch (Item #149517) from Whisper White cardstock. Punch two 1-1/8" scalloped circles (Item #146138) from Blueberry Bushel cardstock. Punch one 1/2" circle (Item #119869) from Daffodil Delight cardstock.

Using a bone folder curl the petals of all of the daisies. Adhere the red daisies together, off setting each layer from the layer immediately below it. Adhere the white daisies together, off setting each layer from the layer immediately below it. Adhere the stack of white daisies to the center of the stack of red daisies.

Cut in between each scallop on the scallop circles towards the center of the circle but not all the way to the center. Curl each "petal" upwards with a bone folder. Adhere the two scalloped circles together, offsetting them as best as possible. Then adhere them to the center of the white daisies.

Place the Daffodil Delight 1/2" circle on top of the Paper Piercing Mat (Item #126199). Use a stylus to make the daisy center more 3D. Move the stylus in a circular motion around the edge of the circle a few times and then again closer to the center of the circle. The circle will start to look like a little bowl.

Place a mini dimensional in the center of the white daisy stack. Remove the mini dimensional backing and stick the Daffodil Delight 1/2" circle on top.

The last treat holder is a version of my Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie matchbox treat holder. I created my own fireworks designer series paper using the fireworks stamp from the Birthday Background stamp set (Item #151260) and Whisper White cardstock.

The firework embellishments use the same strings of stars stamp from Making Christmas Bright as on the mini treat box belly band. Stamp the strings of stars stamp on a 3/4" by 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock. Curl the cardstock with a bone folder. Turn the cardstock over, so that the back is facing up. Roll up the cardstock into a tight tube. Unroll the cardstock. Put a piece of Tear and Tape Adhesive on both of the short ends and remove the backing. Stick 5 pieces of Silver Thread to one of the pieces of Tear and Tape Adhesive (cut the Silver Thread about 2" long pieces or so). Roll up the cardstock and press the end securely in place. Trim the Silver Thread. Make two more firework embellishments and adhere them to the top of the matchbox with liquid glue.
