September 2016 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Project

This month's kit is awesome! Even if you are only a card maker and not a 3D project maker, this kit is still amazing. There are stamps and embellishments for Halloween and Fall. Here is one of the alternative projects that I created.

As soon as I saw the striped banner stickers, I saw witchy stockings. I love witch shoes and boots and striped stockings! Check out those shoes! Can you guess what they are made from?!? That's right - the Fox Builder Punch tail! This punch is incredible! Thank you to Melissa Leskovar who taught me how to make the tail into a shoe.

I used the Simply Scoredboard to make the pleats of the witch's skirt. I cut four 12" by 1/2" strips of Halloween Night DSP. Each strip is scored first at 1/4" then at 1/2" more. So, start at 1/4", add 1/2" and score. Then add 1/4" and score. Then add 1/2" and score. That is, score at 1/4", 3/4", 1-1/4", 1-3/4", 2-1/4", and so on until I reached the end of the strip. However, you can create any pleat that is pleasing to you.

The inside is stamped with the Something Good to Eat stamp set greeting and the bats from Spooky Fun (another of my favorite Halloween stamp sets). I added two banner stickers to the bottom.

Hauntly Good Halloween Card

Our theme for this month's demonstrator meeting was a Fall or Halloween card using products from the Holiday Catalog. Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays!

The Halloween collections in the Holiday Catalog are amazing! It was hard to choose just one stamp set! I used Jar of Haunts and Spooky Fun to create this creepy card. The spiders crawling out of the mummy jar make this card extra hair-raising! To make the mummy's bandages look old, I ran the brush tip of a Sahara Sand along the bottom of each bandage.

The spider web also adds to the creepy crawly-ness! Love it!

A Bushel Full of Blessings

Fall is my favorite season! I love the crisp autumn air, the cozy sweaters, and the crackle of the leaves underfoot! The Basket of Wishes stamp set invokes all of these memories and feelings!

Here is another Thanksgiving card with similar materials to Friday's post. It is fun to try the same materials but in a different arrangement! It's almost like being on Chopped but without being sent home!

The Blender Pens are used again to color in the vegetables and the basket. I used Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Always Artichoke, and Pumpkin Pie.

I stamped the sentiment and three little pumpkins on the inside. You can substitute another sentiment on the inside, such as one from Suite Seasons or leave it blank for a hand written sentiment.

But, that's not all you can use Basket of Wishes for! There are two more baskets, more sentiments, and more goodies to fill the basket with. I look forward to creating even more Basket of Wishes projects!

Sneak Peek: Spooky Fun & Halloween Scenes

Tomorrow the 2016-2017 Holiday Catalog will go live! Here is a sneak peek Halloween card using some of the products in the 2016-2017 Holiday Catalog.

The Spooky Fun stamp set features images perfect for your Halloween themed cards, including witches, pumpkins, and grave stones. Pair Spooky Fun with the Halloween Scenes Thinlits to create more depth and autumnal panoramas. The fence thinlit is my favorite!

The background is created with sponges, masking, and reverse masking. I cut a 1-3/4" circle from a sticky note. I placed the negative space over where I wanted the moon and sponged with Pumpkin Pie ink. Once the moon was filled in, I placed the positive circle sticky note on top of the moon. I sponged the sky with Smoky Slate, Basic Archival Gray, Perfect Plum, and Elegant Eggplant, respectively, from bottom to top.

How adorable and spooky is this spider and web?! Who wouldn't want to receive this fun Halloween card?
