Metallic Autumn Leaves Wreath

My mom and I created this metallic autumn wreath last weekend to celebrate the first day of Fall. She choose this gorgeous straw wreath form as the base for our project.

We used a myriad of leaves framelits and thinlits, embossing folders, and metallic foil and glimmer papers to make a ring around the inside of the wreath, so the straw is still a very visible part of the depth and texture of the wreath.

Mixed metallics, browns, and grays made the base for our autumnal color palette.

We used the retired Vintage Leaves stamp set and the Leaflet Framelits. While the Leaflet Framelits are still available on the Clearance Rack, the Vintage Leaves stamps are not. You could use the framelits only and add more sponging instead of stamping. Or, you can substitute the Falling for Leaves Bundle for any or all of the leaves. Both are beautiful options!

The Champagne Foil Paper maple leaves are die cut from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. Champagne Foil Paper is silvery with a slight pinkish hue that is divine!

The Gold Foil Paper leaves are from the Nature's Roots Framelits. I used the Embossing Mats to emboss the area where the die is usually cut and then cut out the leaf shape.

The Copper Glimmer Paper oak leaves blend well with the Basic Gray cardstock and the Galvanized Metallic Paper!

Check out the Silver Foil Paper maple leaf die cut! How gorgeous is that!? We used the Subtle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) on Silver Foil Paper to add a little depth and movement. Subtle TIEF is my favorite new embossing folder to add just a hint of texture!

This wreath may look complicated, but, I assure you, it was not difficult to make. My mom and I cut and stamped leaves in all of our chosen papers first. Then we layed the leaves on top of the wreath form and rearranged them until we were happy with the leaves' placement. Next we glued the leaves in place. We stood a few feet back from the wreath to check if there were any bare spots and filled in areas that looked like they were needing more leaves. Once we were finished, we hung the wreath on the back of the front door.

It was so fun picking out the color palette and cutting out the leaves! Leaves were spread all over the dining room table. It was like playing in a newly raked pile of leaves. It was beautiful and sparkly! I challenge you to get out your stamping supplies and just play! See what you create! Enjoy!

You can find a supply list at the end of this post.

Vintage Leaves Thanksgiving

Here is another way to use the emboss resist technique as an embellishment instead of the background.

Craft with Beth: Vintage Leaves Basket of Wishes Teeny Tiny Wishes Thanksgiving Card Layering Squares Framelits Emboss Resist Sponging

The maple leaf is embossed with copper embossing powder, sponged with Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze, and die cut.

I really like how the two colors blend together to create little hints of orange.

The leaf is framed with two Layering Squares Framelits. It is simple and truly lets the maple leaf shine!

The inside is stamped with the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Early Espresso ink and another leaf from Vintage Leaves in Always Artichoke ink.

I gave myself a challenge to use a few tools, a few stamp sets, and a fall color palette to see how I could create a variety of arrangements. So, you will be seeing this elements of this layout in a few more cards!

Technique Tuesday: Emboss Resist Three Ways

This is one of the cards we are making in today's Technique Tuesday class. Today's class focuses on the emboss resist technique. This is one of my favorite techniques. I think this is a perfect way to combine fall colors!

Craft with Beth: Vintage Leaves Thanksgiving Card Emboss Resist Sponging Basket of Wishes

There are many ways to emboss resist. Today I focused on three - sponging, ink refills, and stamping. All three use heat embossing  to create the resist but give very different results. Sponging creates depth and melding.

Ink refills can be more vivid and more like a water color painting. Stamping can protect the underlying colors while filling in the background.
