Party Wishes Card Swap

The card swap theme for tomorrow's monthly meeting is the 2016 Occasions catalog. The challenge is to make ten cards using products in the Occasions catalog. The finished cards could incorporate items such as DSP, stamp sets, and embellishments. I chose to use the Party Wishes stamp set and the coordinating It's My Party Designer Series Paper.

March is quickly approaching! With so many of my family members' birthdays in March, I thought this was a great way to get a head start and complete this month's swap theme. I made enough for the swap plus a few extra.

I came up with five different combinations for this simple layout. To conserve this adorable paper, I selected DSP that paired well on both sides. It was hard to choose just one!

For the swap, I chose the piece with the Melon Mambo stripes on one side and the confetti on the other side. I cut the entire sheet into 2" strips. Then I cut ten 2" x 2" squares for the presents. Once the presents were cut, I cut 1/2" x 2" rectangles to make the ribbon in the middle of the present. Next I punched the bows. All ten presents and bows used only one piece of DSP! Woohoo!

I used grid paper to help straighten and center the little rectangle of DSP on the present.

Line up the present with the ruled edge. Here I lined it up between the 8" mark and the 10" mark, but any inch mark is fine. To center the rectangular strip on the present, first find the midpoint. The midpoint is 9".

Then add 1/4" to the midpoint to find the starting mark and subtract 1/4" from the midpoint to find the ending mark. One-quarter inch less is 8-3/4". One quarter-inch more is 9-1/4".  So, to center the rectangular strip place it between 8-3/4" and 9-1/4".

Put some glue or SNAIL on the rectangle. Starting at the bottom of the rectangle, line it up between 8-3/4" and 9-1/4". Press the bottom down. Use the same grid lines above the present to guide you, continue to line up and adhere the rectangle. This tip takes the guesswork out!

Thanks for stopping by!
