Hearts Come Home Shadow Box Card

I created this shadowbox card for a demonstrator fun fold card swap last month. I thought I had posted it but later realized I didn't. Then I completely forgot to post it. I apologize for the delay.

The theme of the swap was to create a card using a Fun Fold. I chose the Shadow Box Fun Fold. The Shadow Box Fun Fold is a fun fold that can flatten to fit in an envelope and can stand up to be displayed.

The pair of evergreen trees in the foreground are from the Carols of Christmas Bundle's thinlit collection. This is a fab bundle that, unfortunately, is retiring on January 2nd, 2018 (Clear-Mount Bundle #146037 / Wood-Mount Bundle #146036). I recommend at least snapping up the thinlits from this bundle. The deer is too cute! The trees are versatile, especially for masculine cards.

Sponge the Whisper White rectangle with Soft Sky ink, Dapper Denim ink, and Night of Navy ink, from the bottom of the rectangle to the top, respectively. I started with the lightest color at the bottom and ended with the darkest color at the top, blending each color into the previous color. Sponge as much or as little of each color as you would like. The amount of color in the sky is personal preference. Set this aside to dry.

Once the sponged background is dry, stamp the Santa in his sleigh image with Basic Black Archival ink in the upper area of the sky. Then add stars in the sky with a white gel pen. Set aside to dry.

Place the 11” side along the top of the Simply Scored Board. Score the card base at 1/2", 1”, 4-1/2”, 5, 5-1/2”, 6, 6-1/2”, 10”, and 10-1/2”.

The center of the area between the 1” and 4-1/2” score lines place and die cut the scalloped square.
Stamp the star images above the top of the scalloped square using Night of Navy ink.

Flip the card base over. On the back center panel, stamp the Wishing You a Beautiful Season greeting with Night of Navy ink, the house image with Dapper Denim ink, the chimney smoke image with Basic Black Archival ink, and the pine trees with Lemon Lime Twist ink.

Flip the card base back to the front side. Fold the card base starting with the 1/2" score line, as follows: valley fold, mountain fold, mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold, mountain fold, valley fold.

Add Tear and Tape to the area between the 5” and 5-1/2” score lines and to the area between the 10-1/2” score line and the edge of the card base. Add Tear & Tape AFTER you stamp just in case you need to use the other side!

Adhere the sponged background to the inside center of the card base. Adhere the house diecuts.
Remove the Tear and Tape liner from the 5” score line area and fold the card base in half. This will adhere the center portion of the card base together.

Remove the Tear and Tape liner from the 10-1/2” score line area and adhere to the 1/2" score line area.

Die cut the pair of evergreen trees and attach to the front of the card base at the lower left corner of the scalloped square opening.

Stamp the Merry & Bright greeting with Night of Navy ink on the Whisper White scrap and die cut the oval. Die cut the scalloped oval and adhere the Whisper White oval on top. Adhere to the front of the card base at the center bottom of the scalloped square.

The Shadow Box Fun Fold would make a great birthday card or get well card. How would you decorate your Shadow Box Fun Fold card? I would love to see what you create!

Hearts Come Home Treat Holder

My mom and I follow many of the Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Germany on Pinterest. We love the treat holders and the 3D projects they create. When we saw a snowman treat holder featuring the scalloped tag topper punch from Germany, we had to make one right away!

The inspiration for this treat holder shape comes from a photograph on Pinterest. There was no name or watermark on the photograph or a link to the website or instructions. The greeting was in German. The stamps on the original treat holder have long since retired, so I created my own winter scene using the Hearts Come Home and the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets.

To figure out the dimenstions of the treat holder, I used what I knew about the scalloped tag topper punch dimensions and experimented to determine the rest. The scalloped tag topper punch uses a 2" wide strip of paper. So, I started with a 2" x 11" inch strip of Night of Navy cardstock. My score lines are 1/2" wide to fit the Merry Christmas sentiment label. Once I was happy with the size of the bottom of the treat holder, I measured my stamped and cut the Whisper White cardstock to fit.

Below are the dimensions that I came up from the inspiration photograph.

Card Base
Night of Navy
2” x 5-1/4”

scrap at least 2” x 2”

First, cut your cardstock. With the long side of the Night of Navy cardstock along the top of the Simply Scored Board, score one end at 1/2", 1", 1-1/2", and 2". Burnish all of your score lines towards you.

Then punch the other end with the scalloped tag topper punch.

Add Tear and Tape or other strong adhesive to the back of the treat holder base between the end of the treat holder base and the 1/2" score line. Remove the tape backing.

Fold up your score lines  to form a little box platform for the snowman to sit and adhere to the treat holder base as shown in the photograph.

Stamp your winter scene on the Whisper White cardstock and adhere to the treat holder base just underneath the scalloped tag topper punch hole.

Put two glue dots on the back of the foil wrapped snowman and attach to your winter scene.

Stamp Merry Christmas onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out with the Classic Label Punch, add dimensionals to the back, and adhere to the treat holder base bottom front.

Thread a piece of Whisper White Organza Ribbon through the tag topper hold and tie a Lark's Head knot or a bow. Your treat is ready for giving!

This treat holder would be a great gift for schools, friends, family, and more. I hope you give this sweet, winter treat holder a try!
