Second Sunday Sketches #23 Starts Right Now!

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are arranged.

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

March's challenge will run from March 14th, 2021 until March 31st, 2021 at 5pm EST.

If you would like to participate in the Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge, please create a card using the sketch above and email me a photo of your card by March 31st, 2021 at 5pm EST with the subject line Second Sunday Sketches Entry.

Prize Drawing

The day after the last day of the month (April 1st), I will place all of the names of the participants in a proverbial hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. March's Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge prize is Item #152454 Elegant Gems and three hand-made cards from me.

If you are the winner, I will notify you by email. Please respond to my email with your complete mailing address, and I will mail you your prize! If the winner does not respond to my email within 7 days, I will draw another winner.

I will also post all of the entries on my blog (with your names attached to the photos) and the name of the winner.

You can rotate the card layout 90 degrees, change the hearts to another shape like flowers or letters, add a mat layer beneath the hearts, use embossing folders to add more texture to a mat layer, and more!

The Winner of the 22nd Second Sunday Sketches is...

Candy! Congratulations, Candy! Candy is the winner of the 22nd Second Sunday Sketches card sketch challenge! Your prize, the #154572 Gorgeous Grape 3/8" Sheer Ribbon and 3 handmade cards, will be in the mail on March 2nd, 2021.

The Field and Flowers Designer Series Paper (a Sale-A-Bration exclusive!) coordinates perfectly with the Pretty Perennials Bundle! This particular pattern is one of my favorite patterns in this designer series paper stack! It is bright, cheery, and ready for springtime weather and flowers! I love how Candy framed the stamped greeting and the word die with the layered cardstock rectangle and tied in the designer series paper with the cascading leave die cuts and flower stamped image! Beautiful!

Check out the other entries for the 22nd Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. I love how Tracy made a celebratory St. Patrick's Day card with the Irish flag and the green beverage mug!

Toni's pastel color palette is ready for a springtime birthday. I like how she framed the flower die cuts with the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper and the Happy Birthday greeting stamp. 

Pat used a masking technique to stretch her dachshund stamp. She inked half of her dachshund stamp at a time and drew the middle of the dachshund with a Stampin' Write Marker to connect the front and back half of the dachshund. How clever is that?! Super cute too!

I love how Dawn used the happy birthday word die in a vertical column to echo the scale of the stamped chicken image! Dawn's card is a fun and festive way to celebrate a loved one's birthday! I love how she stamped the chicken on the main cardstock mat to create another area of design interest!

I love how Donna made the horizontal rectangle narrower and moved it to the center of her card front, making it an accent to the main stitched nested label die focal point!

P.S. Ever wonder how I draw for the Second Sunday Sketches winner? I use an app called Tiny Decisions. I input all of the names of the participants onto the wheel and spin it. The name that the wheel stops on is the winner.
