Ride with Me Birthday Truck

The Ride with Me Bundle (Item #151106) is perfect for making birthday treat holders too! Put a cute present in the back of the truck, and you are all set! This truck favor would be great for delivering a few chocolate kisses, some jewelry, jelly beans, a secret note, and more! How fun would this sweet truck be at a place setting at a party or holiday gathering!

I designed this mini box to fit in the truck bed. This box can be made with cardstock or with Designer Series Paper. I chose the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (Item #149497) for my box because it coordinates so well with the new 2019-2021 In Colors!

I wrapped the Terracotta Tile Scalloped Ribbon (Item #149705) around one side of the box to create a belly band that can be easily removed to open the box.

The bow is adhered to the top of the box with glue dots(r).

To determine the size of the completed box, I started by measuring the truck bed and recording the dimensions. I used my grid paper to sketch a template and finalized the template on my computer.

Ride with Me Bundle

At OnStage in April, demonstrators watched a stop-motion video introducing the new annual catalog. The "main character" was a 3D truck driving around with various new products, including die-cut pain brushes, a box, and Mosaic Mood Designer Series Paper. It was so adorable! I dare you not to fall in love with this little truck!

 

The 3D truck is from the Ride with Me Bundle (Item #151106). The bundle comes with the Ride with Me Cling-Mount Stamp Set and the Truck Ride Dies.

Here is a quick video to show you how to put together your own 3D truck!

The Ride with Me Bundle is a great way to decorate the table by creating a 3D truck for each guest's place setting, for thank you favors at a birthday party, at a hay ride, serve little treats at a BBQ, to carry a mini pumpkin at a harvest festival or Thanksgiving, or even hold a little box of treats just to say hello! The possibilities are endless!

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when cutting and assembling your trucks.

• Start with a 5" x 6" piece of cardstock. You can place the truck base, 4 wheel wells, and the front bumper all on this sized piece of cardstock. You can cut two 5" x 6" pieces from one piece of 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock or four pieces from a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock.
  
  
  

• Stamp extra wheels in case the wheel die shifts when die-cutting. You can always save the extra wheels in an envelope inside of your die pocket for another project if you don't need the extras right away.
• Or, if the wheel die shifts when die-cutting, you can adhere the wheel to the truck base so that the wheel well will cover up the mistake.
  
  
  
  
  
  

• Take your time folding and burnishing each of the score lines on the truck base for crisp joining edges.
• Start adhering the truck base at the front bumper and work toward the rear bumper and license plate area. 
• Use liquid glue to adhere the truck base.

Second Sunday Sketches #02

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are layed out.

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

June's challenge will run from June 9th, 2019 until June 30th, 2019 at 5pm EST.

If you would like to participate in the Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge, please create a card using the sketch above and email me a photo of your card by June 30th at 5pm with the subject line Second Sunday Sketches Entry.

I will place all of the names of the participants in a hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. June's Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge prize is Item #149485 Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack and three hand-made cards from me.

If you are the winner, I will notify you by email. Please respond to my email with your complete mailing address, and I will mail you your prize! If the winner does not respond to my email within 7 days, I will draw another winner.

I will also post all of the entries on my blog (with your names attached to the photos) and the name of the winner.

Here is a sample of how I interpreted this card sketch using the stamp set from February 2019's Paper Pumpkin Kit Grown with Kindness.

There are many ways to change this card to make it your own! You can switch the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) for a piece of ribbon, twine, or a decorative die. You can change the color palette. Rotate the card layout 90 degrees to the left and have the area where the succulent Designer Series Paper is be on the bottom of the card front instead of on the left side. Change the stamp set. Use the card sketch graphic and the example card as your inspiration!
