Second Sunday Sketches #32 Starts Today

 

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are arranged.

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, a monogram, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

Prize Drawing

The day after the last day of the month (January 1st), I will place all of the names of the participants in a proverbial hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. December's Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge prize is a mystery embellishment pack from my retired product cache and three hand-made cards from me.

Some Ideas on How to Make this Card Sketch Your Own

There are many ways to change this card to make it your own! You can rotate the card layout 90 degrees, change the oval to another shape like flowers or letters, add a mat layer beneath the stripes, use embossing folders to add more texture to a mat layer, use washi tape for the stripes, and more!

Oh, my goodness! Dawn's cards are so precious! The holly in the dog's and the cat's hats is beyond adorable! I love your interpretation of November's card sketch, Dawn! Dawn enjoyed this card sketch and the Sweet Little Stockings stamp set so much that she made two cards - one with the dog in the stocking and one with the cat in the stocking! So cute! I can see why it was hard to choose which card to enter!

Love that bit of sparkle too! Toni added a fun texture to her mat layer with an embossing folder. Her color palette is bright and cheery - perfect for sending birthday wishes and cheer! Candy's snowman card is so jolly and fun! I love how Candy echoed the snowflake shape in the embossing folder with the die cut glitter paper snowflakes!

The Winner of the Second Sunday Sketches #30 is...

Pat Arnold! Congratulations, Pat! Pat is the winner of the 30th Second Sunday Sketches card sketch challenge! Your prize, the #155500 Genial Gems and 3 handmade cards, will be in the mail on November 3rd, 2021.

Pat, your Christmas card is beautiful! I love how you echoed the evergreen trees on the designer series paper with the evergreen tree punch and how you used the sequined paper on the mat and as the group of three embellishments like on the original sketch. Pat stamped her Merry Christmas greeting onto Soft Succulent cardstock. That is a great tip to keep in mind - the cardstock behind the greeting does not have to be Basic White or Very Vanilla. It can be any color!

She created a scene inside the large rectangle in the center instead of using designer series paper or a solid cardstock. I simply love Candy's card! Dawn's Thanksgiving card is beautiful with the oak leaf designer series paper and the jewel tones! Toni's celebratory card is bright and cheery. I like how she layered the flower punches under the stamped greeting too!

Dawn! Congratulations, Dawn! Dawn is the winner of the 28th Second Sunday Sketches card sketch challenge! Your prize, the Gold 1/4 Shimmer Ribbon and 3 handmade cards, will be in the mail on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

Dawn's gratitude card is just stunning!! The color palette and the flowers are perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. I love how Dawn used the designer series paper and the folded ribbon to add interest and dimension to her card.

Check out the other entries for the 28th Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. I love how Toni embossed the vertical rectangle from the sketch. It gives her card an aged look. So clever! I am in love with Pat's Halloween card! Did you see the little cat peeking out on the inside of her card and on the envelope! How darling! This stamp set is getting harder and harder to resist! The use of the brick embossing folder and the close up of the stamped door image made me feel like I was looking at the front porch of a house! The circle die cut really highlights the detail of the stamped door image. The sponging gives an almost sunset appearance to her card. Love it! Well done!

Second Sunday Sketches #27 Starts Now!

 

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are arranged.

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

July's challenge will run from July 11th, 2021 until July 31st, 2021 at 5pm EST.

If you would like to participate in the Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge, please create a card using the sketch above and email me a photo of your card by July 31st, 2021 at 5pm EST with the subject line Second Sunday Sketches Entry.

Prize Drawing

The day after the last day of the month (August 1st), I will place all of the names of the participants in a proverbial hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. July's Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge prize is Item #155500 Genial Gems and three hand-made cards from me.

Winner Announcement

If you are the winner, I will notify you by email. Please respond to my email with your complete mailing address, and I will mail you your prize! If the winner does not respond to my email within 7 days, I will draw another winner.

I will also post all of the entries on my blog (with your names attached to the photos) and the name of the winner.

Some Ideas on How to Make this Card Sketch Your Own

There are many ways to change this card to make it your own! You can rotate the card layout 90 degrees, change the hearts to another shape like flowers, letters, or sparkling embellishments, use embossing folders to add more texture to a mat layer, and more!

The Winner of the Second Sunday Sketches #26 is...

Toni's birthday card color palette is perfect for men and for women. I love the added texture of the music sheet embossing folder! What a wonderful birthday card for all musicians and music aficionados!

Check out the other entries for the 26th Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. I absolutely love both Candy and Donna's card entries! How adorable are the two people riding the bike together!? This would make a wonderful anniversary card. The butterfly is gorgeous! The blues and greens with a hint of yellow in the green makes the butterfly vibrant and lifelike.
