There is a good balance of different sizes of patterns. Some flowers are large, some are medium, and some are small. The scale of each pattern should also have some contrast - one pattern should be proportionately larger or smaller than the other. Otherwise, the patterns become too busy looking.

Let's get creating! Second Sunday Sketches #21 Starts Right Now!

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are layed out.

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

January's challenge will run from January 10th, 2020 until January 31st, 2020 at 5pm EST.

If you would like to participate in the Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge, please create a card using the sketch above and email me a photo of your card by January 31st, 2020 at 5pm EST with the subject line Second Sunday Sketches Entry.

Prize Drawing

The day after the last day of the month (February 1st), I will place all of the names of the participants in a proverbial hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. Some Ideas on How to Make this Card Sketch Your Own

There are many ways to change this card to make it your own! You can rotate the card layout 90 degrees, change the oval to another shape like flowers or letters, add a mat layer beneath the oval, mask the darker gray rectangle area to create your own stamped pattern or create stripes or a sunset with a sponge brayer and ink pads, and more!

Candy! Congratulations, Candy! Candy is the winner of the 20th Second Sunday Sketches card sketch challenge! Your prize, the Item #154578 Resin Hearts and 3 handmade cards, will be in the mail on Tuesday, January 5th.

The winter frost truly comes through on Candy's card! I can almost feel how cool the snow is in the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper. The blues and grays add to the wintry feel too! I like how the dandelion dies echo the past bloom flowers.

Check out the other entries for the 20th Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. I really like how Pat used the knitted embossing folder to enhance her winter themed card. That seal is adorable with his knitted hat too! The birthday paper on Toni's card is bright and cheery! It's festive and makes a special card for a loved one! P.S. Ever wonder how I draw for the Second Sunday Sketches winner? I use an app called Tiny Decisions. I input all of the names of the participants onto the wheel and spin it. The name that the wheel stops on is the winner.
