Are you ready for a new challenge? Second Sunday Sketches #22 starts NOW!

 

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are arranged.

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

February's challenge will run from February 14th, 2021 until February 28th, 202! at 5pm EST.

If you would like to participate in the Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge, please create a card using the sketch above and email me a photo of your card by February 28th, 2021 at 5pm EST with the subject line Second Sunday Sketches Entry.

Prize Drawing

The day after the last day of the month (March 1st), I will place all of the names of the participants in a proverbial hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. February's Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge prize is Item #154572 Gorgeous Grape 3/8" Sheer Ribbon and three hand-made cards from me.

Winner Announcement

If you are the winner, I will notify you by email. Please respond to my email with your complete mailing address, and I will mail you your prize! If the winner does not respond to my email within 7 days, I will draw another winner.

I will also post all of the entries on my blog (with your names attached to the photos) and the name of the winner.

Some Ideas on How to Make this Card Sketch Your Own

There are many ways to change this card to make it your own! You can rotate the card layout 90 degrees, change the rectangle to another shape like a star or a word die, stamp cascading flowers or leaves from the upper horizontal rectangle, use embossing folders to add more texture to the card front, add a mat layer, and more!

Join us for next week's Zoom stamping session!

Thank you for a wonderful Zoom stamping session on Monday! Everyone's cards were beautiful! I love how everyone interpreted the same layout differently, using different stamp sets, designer series paper, and embellishments. Your creativity never ceases to astound me!

We made two types of corner pop-up cards - one card base that has a pocket and one card base that does not have a pocket. This fun fold completes our three week series on squash style cards. Below is my card sample without a pocket using the new Hot Dog stamp set.

The Hot Dog stamp set is an adorable stamp set in the January-June Mini Catalog tucked in the back of the catalog that is not to be missed! Hot Dog features three dachshunds and all of their sweet little accessories, including a birthday hat and a cone!

 

I used the watercolor pencils to fill in the each of the balloon images, giving the card an overall softer yet still vibrant look. 

I would love for you to join our weekly Zoom stamping sessions! We are a group of demonstrators, hobbyists, customers, stampers, family, and friends. We meet each Monday at 6:30pm on Zoom to create a project or two, chat, and have fun! We share projects that we are working on and take turns demonstrating a project. 

There is no set sharing schedule; we each volunteer when we see or make something that we would like to share with the group. There are so many amazing card making projects to try that there is always something to inspire us each week.

 Next week (Monday, February 8th), we are making a book binding fun fold card.

I love how Toni used a larger stitched oval die cut to frame the heart stamped image! The sprinkle of Resin Hearts echoes the Valentine's Day theme so perfectly! Well done!

Check out the other entries for the 21st Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. How sweet are the blueberries on the branches on Candy's card?! Oh, my goodness! What a clever idea to use the leaf ribbon as the branches of a blueberry bush! I like the simplicity of Pat's Card using the greeting stamped image as the secondary element on the card and the gorgeous Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper as the focal element. This patterned paper is to swoon over! It is so beautiful that I could frame it all by itself! Tracy's card is fantastic! I love the music theme and how she enlarged the oval from the sketch and turned it into a rectangle for the music scale stamped image. Love it!

P.S. Ever wonder how I draw for the Second Sunday Sketches winner? I use an app called Tiny Decisions. I input all of the names of the participants onto the wheel and spin it. The name that the wheel stops on is the winner.
