June 2019 Paper Pumpkin: Alternative Project #2 Envelope Treat Holder

Since I used part of the card base for the Bridge Fun Fold card on Wednesday, I thought I should create something out of the matching envelope. It is too cute not to use!

These mini envelopes are the perfect size for summertime treats! I created this mini envelope treat holder as a thank you favor for one of my customers!

For the front embellishment I used the vellum circle of coral piece, another sponged vellum coral piece, the glittery starfish die cut, and the wooden banner die cut from the project kit.

Sponging on vellum is a must try technique! The effect is a beautiful saturation of color with translucency. Vellum takes ink very well and can be sponged, colored with markers & Stampin' Blends, heat embossed, and even stamped on.

This mini envelope treat pouch comes together easily with a few score lines and some Tear & Tape Adhesive. With the bottom fold of the envelope along the left edge of the Simply Scored and the wooden patterned paper facing up, score at 1". Then rotate the envelope so that the bottom fold of the envelope is along the top edge of the Simply Scored and score at 1/4" and again at 3-1/2" (or, 1/4" from the leftmost edge and 1/4" from the rightmost edge). Next use a ruler and a stylus to make a score line from the left bottom corner of the bottom of the envelope diagonally up to where the 1" score line and the 1/4" score line meet. Use a ruler and a stylus to make a score line from the right bottom corner of the bottom of the envelope diagonally up to where the 1" score line and the 1/4" score line meet. Turn the envelope over so that the back of the envelope is facing up and repeat all of the score lines.

Fold and burnish all of the score lines in one direction and then in the opposite direction. Place your hand inside of the envelope and push out the 1" score line and flatten the bottom of the envelope.

Place Tear & Tape Adhesive on the bottoms of the two tabs sticking out - one from the left side and one from the right side where you made the diagonal score lines. Remove the adhesive backing and press each tab to the bottom of the envelope. You now have a little treat pouch!

You can fold the envelope flap inside the treat pouch or leave it standing up for extra support for larger treats.I filled a 3" by 6" Gusseted Cellophane Bag with Pineapple chocolate kisses. I recommend placing the cellophane bag inside of the envelope treat holder before filling. To close the bag, I wrapped the linen thread included in the project kit several times around the top of the bag, cinching it tightly, and tying it into a bow.

These mini envelopes can be used for more than simply holding a card! They can be adhered together to create a mini photo album, used as a gift card holder inside of a card, or as background paper on a card. What other ideas can you think of to create from the mini envelopes in this month's project kit?

You can find the measurements and a supply list for this project at the end of the post. I hope you enjoyed this project! Please leave a comment below (click on the pencil icon)! I would love to hear from you!
