As a hostess gift, I created a gift box to wrap a pine-scented candle perfect for the upcoming winter season! I featured the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper on the top portion of and Cherry Cobbler on the bottom of the gift box.
The top of and the bottom of the box are made with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool similarly to how the Gift Box Punch Board scored the sides of the box.
For the bottom, I cut a piece of 11-3/4" x 11-3/4" Cherry Cobbler cardstock and scored it at 3-7/8" on all four sides. Then I scored each corner diagonally to create side folding tabs. Usually, I would cut the corners to make tabs, however I wanted to reinforce the sides to help carry the weight of the glass candle holder (just in case).
I made the top the same way but used a slightly larger piece of cardstock - 12" x 12" - and scored it at 4" and at 8" on all four sides. I repeated scoring the corners diagonally. For the two halves of the gift box to fit together, one half needs to be slightly larger than the other.
I adhered the folded tabs to the sides of the inside of the bottom of and the top of the gift box, so that the tabs wouldn't be in the way of the gift.
Once I assembled the gift box, I adhered layering rectangular mats of Dashing Along Designer Series Paper and Garden Green cardstock to each of the sides of and to the top of the gift box top.
I was so excited to wrap this festive gift box that I almost forgot to take a picture of the candle! I love this candle from Pier 1! The glass is frosted and then painted with a grouping of pine cones and pine needles.
The candle is nestled in the center of the box bottom and is surrounded by paper shred. You can use store bought, home-made, or, if you have any left, the paper shreddie from the 2018 Occasions Catalog.
I tied the gift box with the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon with two large loopy bows. To make two loopy bows start with about 50% more ribbon than would be needed for one bow. Tie the bow as usual. Then take the two tails and tie a second bow.
