How To: Foil-Wrapped Santa Starburst Treat Holders for OnStage

I usually do not post on Saturdays, but in my excitement for OnStage, I accidentally pushed the save button instead of the publish button for this post yesterday. Luckily, I caught it early enough today to publish this post now.

I am so excited for OnStage! I am really looking forward to see the new stamps, dies, embellishments, and Sale-A-Bration offering tomorrow! I usually make card swaps for OnStage. However, this time I made little treats to give out. It is nice to walk around and meet new friends and bring a little joy (and chocolate!) to their day.

These treats are similar to my circle punch and starburst punch combination except reversed. This time I used a 2-1/4" circle punch instead of a 2" circle punch. The circle is on the outside of the treat holder instead of the inside. The starburst punch was used on the inside to give the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper the spotlight. I really like how the patterns are accentuated by the starburst points! It looks more festive!

There are two different foil-wrapped chocolates - a Santa and a teddy bear. I purchased them from Lidl's. They also have snowmen and angels. I like them all, but for this project I wanted to stick with the traditional red and green theme.

I am obessed (in a good way) with the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper! It is just gorgeous and full of incredible plaids! I love the combination of traditional red and green with gold and blue!

The patterns are non-directional. There is no right side up or upside down. I cannot express how wonderful that is, especially when you are trying to use every little bit for class, for cards, for fun folds, boxes, treat holders, and more!

The size or scale of the patterns is also fantastic! It suits larger projects such as card fronts and smaller projects like mini envelopes and treat holders.

I have gone through almost two packs already! I may have to buy another before the Holiday Catalog sales period ends on January 2nd!

The one thing about the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper that I am not as happy about is that it is 6" by 6", which means there isn't a lot of room to punch many punches per sheet. You have to be strategic.

I started with punching as many of the scraps that I had left and then started punching the full sheets. To reduce the waste, I measured the starburst punch and cut strips a smidgen wider and a smidgen longer. I didn't want to be too narrow or too short because I don't want to mis-align my punch.

First, I cut off 1-1/4" off one side. You can start on any side because the Designer Series Paper is a square.

Then I rotated it 90 degrees counterclockwise and cut off another 1-1/4".

That left me with a 4-3/4" square. I cut this in half to make 2 strips of Designer Series Paper that measure 2-3/8" by 4-3/4" each.

There are 2 left over strips that measure 1-1/4" by 6" and 1-1/4" by 4-3/4". These would be great for the inside of cards, small punches, small die cuts, and small label die cuts. This patterned paper is too beautiful not to use every last bit!

To add a bit more bling, I added Metallic Pearls to either side of the " 'tis the season" greeting. For the patterns that had gold foil, I used the gold pearls and the Santa. For the patterns that didn't have gold foil, I used the silver pearls and the teddy bears.

The chocolates are attached with two glue dots(r) each - one at the top of and one at the bottom of the backs of each chocolate.

I had a basket full of these treats to bring to OnStage made in no time. They would also be perfect for putting at each person's seat at Christmas dinner, for the office, for a team, for community members that you greet each day such as the post office staff, the doctor's office staff, your child's teacher, and more!

I hope you give these treats a try for your next gathering! I would love to see how your treat holders turn out! Post a photo on my Facebook page!

You can find the measurements and a supply list for this project at the end of the post. I hope you enjoyed this project! Please leave a comment below (click on the pencil icon at the bottom of this post)! I would love to hear from you!

Thanks for stopping by!
