It was not my original intention, but my collection of leaves turned out to be in the shape of the turkey's feather fan! Happy coincidence!
I used the large maple leaf stamp and die in Early Espresso cardstock as the basis of my collage. I used Early Espresso ink for a tone on tone look.
Then I added the medium maple leaf embossed die in Crushed Curry cardstock and the smaller sugar maple leaf embossed die in Soft Suede cardstock. For the smallest leaf element, I included a Cajun Craze cardstock leaf punch out.
The measurements for each of the leaves are listed in the measurement chart at the end of this post, but don't let the measurements overwhelm you. I used scraps for my original project and just measured the die cuts, so that you would have a better understanding of the size of the leaf die cuts. This is a great project to use scraps, especially Designer Series Paper!
Sometimes, the greeting stamps look lost or floating in space on the inside of the card. So, I used the feather stamp to anchor the greeting stamp. Because the greeting is the focal point, I wanted the feather stamp to almost blend in with the Whisper White cardstock. I used the stamping off technique with the feather stamp and a Crumb Cake ink pad for an almost watermark feel.
To stamp off, ink the feather stamp with Crumb Cake ink, then stamp it onto grid paper, and then onto the project (without reinking). Stamping off takes away a lot of the ink saturation, so the next time it is stamped, there will be less ink and be lighter in color. This is a great way to get "two" inks out of one ink pad.
