Paper Pumpkin July 2016 What a Gem Alternative Project #2

For the second alternative project I designed a birthday card using only the What a Gem stamp set. I created a two tone look with Whisper White and Flirty Flamingo. I added Dapper Denim to join the two colors.

For my first attempt I stamped the diamond image all over a 5-3/8" by 4-1/8" piece of Whisper White in Soft Sky ink. I filled in each diamond with clear Wink of Stella. I thought the effect was pretty but the sparkle overwhelmed the Soft Sky ink. It was difficult to see the detail of the diamond image through the glitter.

For my second attempts I stamped the diamond image in Pool Party ink. I didn't add the Wink of Stella. The effect is still very pretty. I may go back to add some Wink of Stella on a few diamonds. Ha! Who am I kidding?!? I'm going to add it to all of the diamonds! What did we do before Wink of Stella?

To create the Flirty Flamingo layer, cut a 5-3/8" by 4-1/8" piece of Flirty Flamingo. Make a mark 1" up from the lower left corner. Make a mark 1" down from the upper right corner. Line your marks along the trimmer track and cut. This will give you two identical pieces. Emboss each piece with the Elegant Dots TIEF. Don't worry about the marks showing because the ribbon will cover them.

The inside of the card has the "have a brilliant birthday" sentiment. I really like the cursive, bold font!

The two rows of diamonds are stamped with Soft Sky and Pool Party ink pads.

I think this card would look stunning in Emerald Envy and Elegant Eggplant. What other colors would you use? I would love to see what you make!

Paper Pumpkin July 2016 What a Gem Alternative Project #1

The first alternative project I created is a birthday card for my friends and family with summer birthdays. I used a few stamp sets to create this project - Jar of Love, Labeler Alphabet, and What a Gem.

Paper Pumpkin July 2016 What a Gem Alternative Project #1

I love how these gems seem to spill right out of the jar! I used Real Red, Crushed Curry, Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, and Elegant Eggplant to resemble rubies, topaz, emeralds, diamonds, and amethysts. Tempting Turquoise would also be a gorgeous addition!

I originally intended for this to be a birthday card. However, I really think this could be a thank you card. Change the inside sentiment to one from One Big Meaning, Flourishing Phrases, or Thankful Thoughts. You could even create a set of both birthday and thank you cards to give as a gift!

What other alternative projects have you made with this month's Paper Pumpkin Kit? I would love to see what you make!

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Pumpkin July 2016 What a Gem

Hooray! Hooray! My Paper Pumpkin Kit arrived in the mail! I love getting a present every month! Paper Pumpkin is like treating yourself to 12 birthdays a year! Each kit is a new surprise filled with all the stamps, ink, and paper you need to make an amazing project. All the prep work is done so you can skip to the fun!

Craft with Beth: Paper Pumpkin July 2016 What a Gem Kit

This month's kit is called What a Gem. How cute is this?!?! These boxes would be terrific for a little present or filled with candy or chocolates. I bet a grouping of these boxes makes a great mobile, place cards, or scatter on the table for a party centerpiece. They almost look like mini piñatas too! Yay! The ideas are turning!

Not only are the boxes shaped like precious jewels but so are the stamps! They remind me of the gorgeous but retired Shine On Specialty DSP from the 2016 Occasions catalog.

You could stamp all of the gems randomly on a piece of Kraft cardstock and emboss them with silver or gold embossing powder to achieve a similar look! Lots of sparkle-y goodness!

Our next Paper Pumpkin Kit Club is Saturday, July 23rd from 1pm to 4pm. We will assemble and create alternative projects using the kit's supplies as well as additional Stampin' Up! products. Bring your kit and scissors. This event is free. However, please RSVP one week prior by text, phone, or email. I want to prepare enough refreshments for everyone.

Even if you are not a subscriber, come to our club meeting to see how fun Paper Pumpkin and sign up!

Seaside Shore Shell Birthday Card

Say that three times fast! I created this birthday card using the same Seaside Shore stamp set as yesterday's card but with a softer color palette.

Craft with Beth: Seaside Shore Shell Birthday Card Stampin' Up!

I love the sophisticated color palette of the By the Shore Designer Series Paper (DSP). It says seashore and beach-y using subtle, more subdued tones and without being too over the top. This color scheme is very relaxing too!

On the inside of the card, I sponged Sahara Sand and gold Wink of Stella again. The gold Wink of Stella really enhances the sandy look!

This is a perfect card for a summertime birthday or for anyone who loves the ocean! I would love to see what you make with the Seaside Shore stamp set and Product Suite!
