Wonder of Christmas Faux Cracked Glass Technique

There are so many amazing stamp sets in the 2016-2017 Holiday, I had a hard time choosing which to play with next! This sweet angel stamp set has been waiting patiently!

Craft with Beth: Wonder of Christmas Faux Cracked Glass Technique

To get the angel's wings a different pattern, I stamped the angel image twice - once on Shimmery White cardstock and once on the music Designer Series Paper (DSP). I filled in the angel with aqua painters. I then cut off her wings.

On the music sheet from This Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP), I cut the angel away, leaving only the wings. To achieve the crackled finish to her wings, I used the Faux Broken or Cracked Glass Technique. First, I pressed the wings directly onto the Versamark ink pad (Do NOT use the embossing buddy for this technique. You want full coverage here). Then I dipped them into clear embossing powder and heated them. Once the wings were cool, I inked and embossed them again.

I repeated adding more layers of clear embossing powder a total of five times. This made a thick almost lacquered look to the embossing.

I placed the wings in the freezer for about an hour.

The next step is best done when your piece is still cold. I quickly but carefully bent the wings all over to crack the embossed layers. All of the cracks together look like a piece of broken glass. Crack enough to get the look you want but not enough to tear the paper.

The inside of the card features the star image used as a border and the inside greeting. I love the greetings in the Wonder of Christmas stamp set! It is precious and traditional at the same time.

I hope you give this adorable angel stamp set a try! There are many more stamps to use the Faux Broken or Cracked Glass Technqiue on too! I bet it would look gorgeous on the Wonderous Wings butterfly images! What stamp would you use with this technique?

Thanks for stopping by!
Beth
