Getting my Pumpkin Spice On!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends! I wanted to share with you a few treats I made for my Thanksgiving table.

The first treat holder is a sliding matchbox that holds a caramel square. I first saw these caramel squares in one of my local sandwich shops.

I fell in love with my first bite. I knew I had to make a treat holder with these delectable caramels for my Thanksgiving table. This matchbox holds a Pumpkin Spice Caramel. Yum!

To determine the size of the matchbox base, I measured the largest caramel square's width, length, and height. I drew a template based on my measurements on my grid paper. My matchbox base measures 3-3/4" x 3-7/8". I scored all 4 sides at 1".

Don't be afraid to measure. Whenever I make a box or bag, I use the items that will contain them to help determine the size of the finished box or bag. My grid paper and notebooks are full of measurements and scribbles! You don't have to be an artist. As long as you know what it means, you are good to go! Ask me about my 5 little pumpkins Dutch door card sketch to see what I mean.

To determine the matchbox cover size, I used the box base measurements as a guide. I added the widths of all 4 sides plus 1/16" for each side (or an extra 1/4" total) for ease. The additional ease helps the box cover slide opened and closed. My box cover measures 2" by 6-1/2" and is scored at 7/8", 2-11/16", 3-3/4", and 5-9/16".

It may look like you have one too many sides, but the the last 7/8" wide section is to overlap the first edge for a cleaner more secure cover.

For the top of the box, I made a layered circle, copper maple leaf, and sentiment tag embellishment. The layering circles on the top of the box are a little nod to pumpkin pie.

Gather Together & Give Thanks

This colorful maple leaf card was inspired by another card I saw on Pinterest recently. I apologize I do not recall the source of the inspiration.

Craft with Beth: Painted Harvest Colorful Season Thanksgiving Stampin Up card single layer card sponging technique

I loved the simplicity of a single layer card and the seasonal color palette. The inspiration for this card was not made with Stampin' Up! products, so I changed the stamps, the colors, the sentiment, and the papers to current Stampin' Up! products.

The card base is a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock scored at 5-1/2".

The variegation on the leaves is done by pouncing sponge daubers directly on the stamps with Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, and Cajun Craze ink. I tried experimenting with the ink placement. I pounced each ink color in a striped pattern, pounced a lighter color only on the tips, put a darker color only on the tips, and even blended two colors together.

The possibilities can be endless, and each leaf will turn out differently. I bet Elegant Eggplant would be a stunning addition!

There were two strips of paper on the bottom of the inspiration card's card front. However, I changed the top paper strip to gold washi tape from the Year of Cheer Washi Tape collection. I am swooning over the Year of Cheer washi tape collection, especially the gold washi tape! So elegant!

The bottom strip is from the Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper stack and measures 1/2" x 5-1/2". Surprise! This Christmas themed paper is also great for fall!

The inside is kept simple with plenty of room for writing a Thanksgiving message to friends and family. You could also add the "I am thankful for you" sentiment from the Painted Harvest stamp set.

I hope you give this Thanksgiving card a try! I would love to see what you create!
