Happy Summer!

The inspiration for this card came from a gorgeous sunset card by Cindy Elam. The layout comes from a weekly challenge sketch. However, I removed the palm tree stamp, the ribbon, and the label tag. I also changed some of the colors, the leaf stamp, the embossing folder, and the embellishment. I added the grouping of Flirty Flamingo flowers and Old Olive leaves to the lower right corner instead of the original tag.

When I saw her card, it reminded me not only of warm Summer days but of the times I spent with my grandmother sitting in Lynch Park watching the sun set over the water. There was something magical about watching the sun sink into the ocean. Every night the colors of the sky and water change. No two sunsets were alike. Some were more purple and some more pink and orange.

I highlighted a more pink and orange sunset for this card. The main colors are Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White, Peekaboo Peach, Early Espresso, and Old Olive.

I used an aquapainter on Shimmery White cardstock to watercolor the sunset scene. The sand is Crumb Cake. The water is Island Indigo and Tempting Turquoise. The sky is Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, and Pool Party.

The inside is stamped with the border image in Old Olive ink. I made this card as a blank note card. However, a banner with a sentiment such as thank you, thinking of you, or happy retirement on the front tucked under the flowers would be really cute as well.

Last Minute Extra Father's Day Card

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day! I will not see my father-in-law until after Father's Day, so I thought I would sneak in one last minute card!

Craft with Beth: Father's Day Card Guy Greetings

I have seen a lot of these types of cards lately and wanted to try it. This is a regular top-folding card with a piece cut out of the middle front. It is an interesting fun fold because it uses the negative space as a feature.

To make the base, cut a 4-1/4" by 11" piece of cardstock. Then place the base onto the trimmer and cut off two 2" sections.. Keep one of the 2" sections. This will be the bottom of the card front. Holding the card base horizontally on the score board, make a score mark at 5-1/2".

The two front mats are made from 1-3/4" x 4" rectangles of Old Olive cardstock and embossed with Little Stars TIEF.

The tags are made from the largest framelit from Lots of Labels Framelit set. I cut one tag from each Whisper White and Cajun Craze cardstock. I cut the Cajun Craze tag in half and glued it to each end of the Whisper White tag. I overlapped the tags to create a border effect.

The strong man image is stamped directly onto the center of the Whisper White tag and colored in with Stampin' Write Markers. The banner and the dad image are stamped on scrap Whisper White cardstock, cut out, and adhered with dimensionals. I trimmed the banner as close to the black outline as possible and then ran the brush tip of a Basic Black marker around the edge to cover any remaining white edges and to make the banner stand out even more. This is a great way to mask uneven trimming!

Craft with Beth: Father's Day Card Guy Greetings

I duplicated the tag shape inside the card. I lined up the tag with the front tag, so you cannot see it from the front. I stamped Happy Father's Day in Basic Black Archival ink. I like to stamp sentiments slightly higher than center so I can write a personalized message underneath.

I let my husband pick out the colors for this card! How did he do?

I love the Guy Greetings stamp set. Guy Greetings is a great stamp set not just for Father's Day but for all-occasion masculine cards. This is one stamp set I am so happy carried over into the new annual catalog!

I also used Guy Greetings last year for Father's Day! I made cards with the shoe and hat images. I have some more ideas for the wrench and anchor images!

How do you use your Guy Greetings stamp set? I would love to see what you make!

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Pumpkin: June 2016 Banner Surprise

My mom called me late afternoon yesterday to tell me she received her June 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit. She was so excited that she ripped open the box and the kit contents! My mom was thrilled with this month's kit: Banner Surprise. We love banners!!

This month's kit is a card and a banner all in one! The banners are wrapped around the card and act as the primary embellishment. How clever and cute! I can't wait to give these cards to my family and friends!

The banner is made with clear plastic triangular pouches instead of cardstock. My mom and I both agree that this is awesome! There are so many alternative possibilities! We can see this banner for birthdays, graduation, anniversaries, Fourth of July, babies, and more!

Craft with Beth: Paper Pumpkin June 2016 Banner Surprise Alternative Project Fourth of July Banner 4th

Since the Fourth of July is near, I thought this kit would make a great patriotic banner. Here is a Fourth of July Banner that I came up with as an alternative project.

I used the negative space of the letter stickers to create a stencil. I sponged HAPPY in Real Red and Night of Navy ink. I then stamped the lined circle image that came with the kit around each circle in Versamark and embossed them with silver embossing powder.

On each end, I stamped the starburst image from Perpetual Birthday Calendar in Real Red and in Night of Navy. I filled each pouch with red, blue, and silver sequins.

This is a great banner to kick off our nation's birthday!

I would love to see what other ideas you have for June's Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sending Smiles Your Way Shaker Card

Tuesday's technique class focused on making shaker cards using the new foam adhesive strips. We made two beautiful cards - one for birthdays and one for Christmas. I also shared more samples to show other shaker shapes and fillings. Here is one of the samples using the new Love and Affection stamp set.

Craft with Beth: Love and Affection Shaker Card Copper Embossed Brushstroke Stampin' Up!

The filling comes from the Tree Builder Punch's little flower. I punched flowers in Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Daffodil Delight, and Sweet Sugarplum. I love the fresh, summery look of the new In Colors! Yesterday I thought Emerald Envy was my favorite In Color. Now, I think it is Flirty Flamingo! What's your favorite new In Color?

Brushstrokes background stamp is a beautiful way to show off the gorgeous, new copper embossing powder! Look at that shine!

Craft with Beth: Love and Affection Shaker Card Copper Embossed Brushstroke Stampin' Up!

For added interest, I stamped the tiny flower around the greeting in Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Daffodil Delight ink.

On the inside of the card, I stamped the larger flower and some leaves in the lower right corner. To make the leaves peek out from underneath the flower, I used a sticky note mask.

Don't miss next month's Technique Tuesday class! The next technique is so bright you may need your sunglasses! Reserve your spot today!

Have you tried the new foam adhesive strips or made shaker cards? I would love to see what you make!

Thanks for stopping by!
