Treelined Landscape Display Panel Fun Fold Thanksgiving Card

I was excited to try this new to me fun fold! It is called the Landscape Display Panel Card and was made by fellow Stampin' Up! demonstator Heidi Smith based on the portrait version made by fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator Susan Campfield. Susan called her card a freestanding floating panel card.

Beauty of Friendship Treelined Thanksgiving Landscape Display Panel Fun Fold Card

This fun fold card can stand up on its own, making it an idea display card! You can see from the overhead view photo below that there are three panel areas - a smaller panel in the front, a larger panel behind it, and a center panel across the back of the card base.

Beauty of Friendship Treelined Thanksgiving Landscape Display Panel Fun Fold Card

For my landscape display panel card, I envisioned a tree lined forest scene with leaves changing to reds, oranges, and yellows with just a touch of gold embossing powder. I used the tree stamps from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set to make the row of trees across each of the panels. The grass is made by lightly swirling Garden Green ink along the bottom of the panels. I wanted the emphasis to be on the tree leaves and the greeting.

The gold embossing powder adds a bright metallic shine that pairs well with the brilliant red, orange, and yellow of the trees' leaves. The embossing powder also embellishes the card without adding extra bulk to this already thick fun fold card.

This fun fold card does fit in a A2 envelope and does fold flat. However, this fun fold is bulky because of the scoring and the layers of panels. I don't recommend adding too many 3 dimensional embellishments to your card to avoid having to purchase a special gusseted envelope.

There is plenty of room on the back of the card to write a special message. I repeated the trees growing together from the center front of the card to the back of the card.

Floral Pumpkin Thanksgiving Card

For today's card I created an autumnal Thanksgiving card featuring the Hello Harvest stamp set (#159634) and Rustic Pumpkin Dies (#159643) as well as the Painted Pheasant stamp set (#159846). This card layout is also easy to replicate and make multiples for your family and friends.

Hello Harvest Thanksgiving Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder Card Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper DSP

I like the thanksgiving greeting stamp from Painted Pheasant for this card (and also in general) because the fonts are easy to read and it does not overshadow the pumpkin floral element in the center of the card.

I stamped the thanksgiving greeting on Daffodil Delight cardstock to tie the greeting to the sunflowers and to the squash on the designer series paper.

I was originally going to stamp the pumpkin in the center of the Basic White rectangle and adhere the floral spray with dimensionals on top of the pumpkin. However, the background looked too bare and the pumpkin receded into the background.

So, I die cut the pumpkin and added dimensionals to the back of both the pumpkin and the floral spray. Then I used the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder to add a delicate layer of interest behind the pumpkin and floral die cuts without overwhelming the rest of the card.

Inside of the card is plenty of room to write a thanksgiving message. At the bottom I added a 3/4" strip of the Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper.

Hello Harvest Thanksgiving Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder Card Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper DSP

Pro Tip: You can cut each of the designer series paper panels separately or cut 1 piece that measures 3-5/8" x 5-1/4" and cut it into 3 panels as indicated in the measurements list below. You should be able to cut 6 panels of 3-5/8" x 5-1/4" and 6 pieces that measure 4" x 3/4" for the inside DSP strip using a 12" x 12" piece of designer series paper.

Using a Card Sketch to Make a Halloween Card

The Scary Cute stamp set (#159850) is my go to Halloween stamp set this season. The silhouettes of the trick-or-treaters are too adorable and fun! I made this card to send to my niece for Halloween using the fairy princess silhouette stamp.

Scary Cute stamp set Halloween fairy princess card Halloween card

The layout comes from a card sketch by Teresa Kline. I was drawn to the three horizontal stripes and the ribbon at the top of her sketch.

I often use card sketches for inspiration, whether they are my own card sketches or another's. Card sketches provide a starting point for my creativity. I look at the scale of the elements on the card sketch to get an idea of which stamps and papers would fit.

There were no measurements included with Teresa's card sketch, so I used my grid paper to draw an approximation. Then I cut my paper and adjusted the measurements as I created.

I chose mostly neutral colors with the Basic Black, the Basic Gray, and the Basic White. I added a burst of Highland Heather to contrast with the neutral colors.

I chose the star patterned paper because it echoed the star on the fairy princess' wand and because the size of the stars well fit in a 3/4" strip of DSP. The stars did not lose their definition when cut to such a narrow piece of DSP. I kept the three strips of DSP the same to avoid the card becoming overly busy with too many patterns.

Scary Cute stamp set Halloween fairy princess card Halloween card

On the inside I stamped the moon and some bats at the top and the row of trick-or-treaters at the bottom to create a nighttime Halloween scene.

You can customize this card too. The silhouette stamps are mostly the same size, so the stamps with one trick-or-treater should fit in this circle die cut. You can also adjust the size of the circle die cuts. You can change the color palette to your recipient's favorite colors or to suit the occasion.

Below are the measurements and the supply list that I used to make this Scary Cute Halloween card. You can find stamping supplies in my online store HERE.

Measurements

  • Card Base: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; score at 4-1/4" (Basic Gray Cardstock)
  • 1st Mat: 4" x 5-1/4" (Basic Black Cardstock)
  • 2nd Mat: 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" (Highland Heather Cardstock)

  • Circle: 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" (Basic White Cardstock) - use the 2-1/8" circle die
  • Greeting Mat: 2-1/2" x 1" (Basic Black Cardstock)

Second Sunday Sketches #41 Starts Today

Craft with Beth Second Sunday Sketches graphic title graphic banner card sketch challenge with measurements

It is time for another Second Sunday Sketches challenge! If you are new to Second Sunday Sketches, please review the rules here or below. Each second Sunday of the month, I will post a card sketch. A sketch is graphic or drawing of how the elements of a card are arranged.

Craft with Beth: Stampin' Up! Second Sunday Sketches sketch card sketch challenge sample graphic

You will then use the sketch as a guide to create your own card. Your card must be a new creation and reflect the challenge guidelines. Your card must include the major elements of the card sketch, such as the number of layers and the general position of the embellishments and/or die cuts. You can rotate the sketch for a top-folding card or for a side-folding card.

You choose the occasion and the color palette as well as the stamp set(s) and the embellishments. I do ask that you use Stampin' Up! products (current or retired).

The measurements will also be included in the blog post for each Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge. You can use the measurements as given or increase them or decrease them. For example, if a greeting is stamped on a 1" circle on the sketch, but the greeting you choose is 1-3/4", then increase the size of the circle to 1-3/4". You can also change the shape. Instead of a circle, you can use an oval, a square, a daisy punch, a monogram, etc.

The challenge will run from the second Sunday of the month until the last day of that month.

Sharon Bramlett! Congratulations, Sharon! Sharon is the winner of the 40th Second Sunday Sketches card sketch challenge! Your prize, a mystery embellishment pack from my retired product cache and 3 handmade cards, will be in the mail on Tuesday. September 6th, 2022.

Second Sunday Sketches card entry card sketch challenge with measurements #40 birthday card

I love how Sharon added texture to her birthday card by using the hexagon embossing folder. Her color palette is cheerful and bright! I also like how she used the gold cording behind her layered scalloped oval greeting!

Check out the other entries for the 40th Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. I love how Toni echoed the orange in the fox on her stripes of designer series paper and on her card base. The fox is so cute too! I love how Toni placed the fox to one side and the greeting to the other. How awesome is Tracy's otter card with the layers of waves and hexagon die cut windows?!?! Pat did an amazing job layering the sail boat punch with the water scene designer series paper. The sail boat looks like it is sailing in the designer series paper! I can imagine sailing on the water during sunset. Donna used a combination of designer series paper and embossing folder to create her floral thank you card. One side of her card has flowers and the other has leaves. Donna's color palette is happy and vivid!

Well done everyone! Thank you so much for participating in August's Second Sunday Sketches! I am blown away by your creativity!

Watercolor Pencil Cottage Rose Birthday Card

Today's card features the Abigail Rose product suite. I think it is absolutely beautiful! I couldn't resist purchasing the entire product suite!

The style of the stamps and the designer series paper reminds me of early 1900's fabric. I would love to make a quilt out of this paper pack! The color palette is a mixture of browns, vanilla, grey, and black with a hint of pale pink.

I used watercolor pencils in Flirty Flamingo, Early Espresso, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight to add a soft texture to the stamped rose.

I first added color to the sketch lines in the stamp to create shadows. Then I filled in each petal and leaf with less pressure to accentuate the shadow areas.

I love these brushed brass butterfly embellishments! The butterflies have a gorgeous, reflective metallic finish that pairs well with every color in the Stampin' Up! catalog. The size is great for a variety of project sizes. I really like how they are dimensional without adding too much bulk or weight to a card! They are flat on the top too, making it less likely that they will tear an envelope in the mail. The brushed brass butterflies are a winner in my book!

How adorable is this horse peeking over the brick wall?!?! I love how Tracy moved the greeting rectangle to the center area and put it on an angle. What a fun way to add whimsy to a card! Well done, Tracy!

Check out the other entries for the 39th Second Sunday Sketch card challenge. Donna created a focus medallion with a metallic snowflake and a stitched circle die cut with the three wise men embossed in gold. Donna, your card is stunning! I love the added touch of the musical designer series paper. It really emphasizes the Christmas spirit!

Pat used a scalloped circle punch for her circle on the sketch and added a sweet friendship greeting and flower punch out. I love how she echoed the colors in the Tea Boutique designer series paper in the card base and in the flower.

Toni used the scotty dog punch in her circle element. He is so cute! I love how Toni added pearls in the corners on her greeting rectangle! So beautiful! Well done everyone! Thank you so much for participating in the 39th Second Sunday Sketches!

Hello Harvest Offset Gatefold Card

Fun folds, like this offset gate fold card, are a great way to feature designer series papers, especially with larger prints and scenes. The Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper in the 2022 July-December Mini Catalog is perfectly suited. It has larger patterns with fall squashes and gourds and large chrysanthemums that could almost fill the entire card front.

You can cut the designer series paper piece in one continuous scene or cut three individual strips of designer series paper. For today's card, I cut the designer series paper in a large panel and then cut it into three individual l pieces to create continuous scene.

The offset gate fold card is similar to the regular gate fold card. It keeps the same card base, but the front opening is moved to one side. You can move the opening to the right or to the left side of the card. You can hold the card vertically or horizontally, like in today's project.

Hello Harvest Offset Gate Fold Thanksgiving card grateful gratitude friendship fun fold card Rustic Harvest DSP

The card closes by securing the left tail of the banner underneath a grouping of three sunflowers. I adhered the sunflowers in a cluster to a small scrap of cardstock to reinforce the strength of the closure. The card functions without the reinforcement, so the extra cardstock underneath the sunflowers is not essential.

100% Nice Work Mini Knitting Card

I have been working with the He's the Man Designer Series Paper pack often over the last month, especially for Father's Day and cards for my family. I have a lot of relatives that enjoy camping and cooking on the grill too.

He's the Man Designer Series Paper Knitting Yarn Ball Card Mini Card 3" x 3" card

The He's the Man Designer Series Paper pack is a terrific mix of linear patterns like stripes and diamond as well as icon patterns including glasses, cookout supplies, and ties. It also includes two sheets of die cuts.

He's the Man Designer Series Paper Graphic DSP

The die cut sheets are pre-cut for you and contain a myriad of die cuts ranging from labels with greetings to everyday objects like cars, antlers, and grills.

I am truly enjoying working with the die cuts. They add another dimension to your projects, especially with the fun shapes of the labels and banners.

He's the Man Designer Series Paper Die Cut Sheet Graphic

Looking at the die cut sheet I noticed that the two crossed nails reminded me of knitting needles and was similar to a merit badge size. I love knitting! I have been knitting and crocheting for over twenty years. Any excuse to incorporate knitting into all areas of my life is a plus!

So, I grabbed a spool of Basic White Baker's twine, wound a little yarn ball, and glued it to the center of the "knitting needles". I backed my little merit badge on Early Espresso and Sahara Sand cardstock before adding it to a Balmy Blue cardstock mini card base.

I may send this little card to a fellow knitter to let them know how much I appreciate their knitting skills!

Below are the measurements and supplies for this cute mini card.

Measurements

  • Card Base: 3" x 6"; scored at 3" (Balmy Blue Cardstock)
  • 1st Mat: 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" (Early Espresso Cardstock)
  • 2nd Mat: 2" x 2" (Sahara Sand Cardstock)
  • Die Cut: 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" (He's the Man Designer Series Paper) - use the 100% nice work die cut
  • Inside Mat: 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" (Basic White Cardstock)

Supplies

#146982 Balmy Blue Cardstock
#119686 Early Espresso Cardstock
#121043 Sahara Sand Cardstock
#159276 Basic White Cardstock
#155475 Baker's Twine Essentials Pack
#110755 Multipurpose Liquid Glue
#102300 Bone Folder
#103579 Paper Snips
#130148 Grid Paper
#152392 Paper Trimmer
Corner Rounder Punch

The He's the Man Designer Series Paper is seemingly a "masculine" theme, but I think everyone can use them. The symbols and patterns, to me, are more universal. Anyone can grill, go camping, wear ties, or like classic cars. I hope the title of the designers series paper does not deter anyone from giving it a try.

I hope you give the He's the Man Designer Series Paper another look! If you need supplies to make this knitting mini card, please, shop my online store HERE.

If you have any questions about today's project, please, don't hesitate to ask me. I am happy to help you with your stamping questions!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Second Sunday Sketches #39 Starts Today!

Below is July's card sketch.

Prize Drawing

The day after the last day of the month (August1st), I will place all of the names of the participants in a proverbial hat and randomly draw a winner. The winner will receive a prize (US Residents only)! The prize each month will change and will be announced at the start of each challenge. July's Second Sunday Sketches sketch challenge prize is a surprise embellishment pack from my retired product cache and three hand-made cards from me.
