Get Ready for the New Catalog!

To help get ready for the new Annual Catalog, I have updated and added a few reference sheets and printables.

The Wish List Template is ready to print and record all of your favorite items! I know you are going to love the new catalog, so make sure you print extra copies! I printed mine! Yep, I want everything!

I updated the Designer Series Paper (DSP) Color Coordination Charts to include the new catalog goodies. This chart lists the colors that are featured in each DSP pack, making it easier to select matching or similar colors for your projects.

The Current Stampin' Up! Color Chart now includes the 2016-2018 In Colors.

The Current RGB & Hex Codes Chart also now includes the 2016-2018 In Colors.

To keep track of past In Colors, I created a separate RGB & Hex Codes for In Colors chart. The In Colors Chart includes all of the In Colors since I became a demonstrator. I am going to really miss Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, and Mossy Meadow!

There are only a few more days left to shop from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog and the 2016 Occasions Catalog! Don't miss out on your favorite items!

My Catalog Kick Off Party is Saturday, June 4th from 10am to 3pm. There will be prizes, games, make and takes, and food! I have some amazing samples to share with you too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Woodland Baby Banner

My mom and I made a woodland banner awhile ago to welcome my younger brother's newborn son. The nursery theme was woodland and moose.

Craft with Beth: Woodland Baby Banner

My younger brother and his wife kept the baby's name a secret until he was born. They were very cryptic! So, we stamped baby instead of his name.

The banner is strung with sisal twine from the hardware store. The pennants are crest-shaped. Each pennant is 4-1/4" wide by 5" long. The crest shape is formed by cutting 45 degree angles on the bottom of the pennant with the paper trimmer.

Craft with Beth: Woodland Baby Banner

The first pennant features the Perfect Pines dies and the Woodland TIEF. I was so sad when the Woodland TIEF retired. It is great not just for embossing but for water coloring and sponging techniques. However, Stampin' Up! has announced that it will be back in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog! You will see more examples using this TIEF in a Technique Tuesday Class!

Craft with Beth: Woodland Baby Banner

Each letter pennant is stamped with the Hardwood stamp in Soft Suede. The letter stamps are from the retired Sophisticated Serifs stamp set and are also stamped in Soft Suede. You can substitute Larger than Life or Layered Letters.

Craft with Beth: Woodland Baby Banner

My mom and I made this little moose using the Owl Builder Punch and circle punches. We free-handed the antlers.

I made more pennants today to update the name. I will try to get a few photographs of the updated banner.

What kinds of banners do you like? What kinds of banners have you made? I would love to see what you create!

Paper Pumpkin Kit: Many Manly Occasions

I often struggle with creating the perfect masculine card. I could spend an afternoon arranging and rearranging different ideas and colors trying to get the layout just right. So, I'm thrilled that this month's Paper Pumpkin Kit is all about the men in our lives!

The stamp set includes sentiments for occasions throughout the year and for dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. The die cut triangular and rectangular pieces are fantastic! I love the Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party, and Night of Navy together.

I really like this kit! There are so many opportunities for alternative projects! You could use the die cut background as a stencil or the negative space for the happy sentiment die cut for a great ombre effect! If you are not as big a fan of the orange as I am, you could change the background color.

My Paper Pumpkin Kit Club will meet on Saturday, May 28th from 1pm to 4pm to assemble our kits and try some alternative projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Envelope Fold Thank You Card

My cousin sent me a commercially made thank you card that looks like an envelope on it's side. The shape was so darling! The design was simple with a plain solid color background bordered by a stripe at the top and at the bottom. The thank you sentiment was embossed in gold.

I immediately thought this was a great fun fold to showcase the gorgeous Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the new copper embossing powder!! I fell in love with this DSP at On Stage! It has Crumb Cake, flowers, and copper embossing! What is not to love?!

I created a set of four note cards with matching envelopes. I also created a larger envelope to keep the card set in.

Craft with Beth: Love & Affection Thank You Card Set

To make the thank you card, first cut a 3-1/2" x 12" piece of Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP. Holding the DSP with the 12" long edge flush to the top of the score board, then score it at 5" and at 10".

Craft with Beth: Envelope Fold Thank You Card Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP, One Big Meaning

Next, let's cut the triangle flap. Rotate the card so that the right most 3-1/2" edge is lined up with the bottom edge of your grid paper. This is the side with the 10" score line. Make a pencil mark at 1-3/4". This is the middle of the 3-1/2" side.

Craft with Beth: Envelope Fold Thank You Card Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP, One Big Meaning

You will angle your cuts to the middle to form a triangular point. Starting at the bottom of the 10" score line, with scissors cut towards the pencil mark. Do this again but starting at the top of the 10" score line as shown in the photograph above. Then use the corner rounding punch to round the tip of the triangular point.

Craft with Beth: Envelope Fold Thank You Card Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP, One Big Meaning

To make the slit closure, first rotate the card so that the left most 3-1/2" edge is lined up with the bottom left corner of your grid paper. This will make it easier to center your closure. Make a pencil mark at 1-1/4" over and 1-3/8" up and at 2-1/4" over and 1-3/8" up. Connect the two marks with a line. Place a self-healing cutting mat underneath your card. Carefully, cut out the line with a craft knife. If you don't want to use a craft knife, you can use a hook and loop closure instead.

Craft with Beth: Envelope Fold Thank You Card Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP, One Big Meaning

Cut a 4-3/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and adhere it to the inside center of the card.

Craft with Beth: Love & Affection Thank You Card Set

The front embellishment is made by stamping the thank you sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with Versamark Ink and embossing it with copper embossing powder. Once the paper is cool, punch out the sentiment with a 2" circle punch. Make a total of 4 embossed and punched thank you sentiments. Punch a 2-3/8" scalloped circle from Mint Macaron, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, and Night of Navy. Adhere one embossed sentiment to each scalloped circle and then to the front of the card.

Even though this card is smaller than a standard sized card, it will still fit in a regular sized envelope, but why not make your own envelope?

I used the Envelope Punch Board to make both the matching envelopes and the card set box. For the matching envelopes, cut a 7-1/4" x 7-1/4" piece of envelope paper. The first and third punch is 3-1/8" The second and fourth punch is 3-1/2".

You can purchase the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP and more on June 1st! There are only 9 more days left until the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog is released! I know you are going to love the new catalog! I hope you will join me for the Catalog Kick Off Party on June 4th. I have some great new product samples, Make & Takes, and prizes to share with you!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a Dino-rrific Birthday!

Today is my nephew's fifth birthday. To celebrate, I  made him this birthday card using the No Bones About it Stamp Set. He loves dinosaurs!

Craft with Beth: No Bones About It Birthday Card

I stamped each of the dinosaurs in a diagonal line across a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I stamped the leaves between the dinosaurs to fill in some of the negative space and to provide interest.

Craft with Beth: No Bones About It Birthday Card

I used Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, and Garden Green ink pads.
Craft with Beth: Dino-rrific Birthday Card Color Scheme

I created the number 5 embellishment using the Large Number Dies, the smallest Deco Label Die, and the 2" Circle Punch. I adhered the circle to the center of the Deco Label. I added the edge pieces of the dimensionals sheet to the back of the number 5 to raise it.

After adding the number 5 embellishment to the center of the card, I stamped the sentiment Look Who's Turning above with Archival Basic Black ink.

Craft with Beth: No Bones About It Birthday Card

The inside is stamped with another dinosaur wearing an adorable party hat! I stamped the group of spots around the top of the inside to look like celebratory confetti.

I stamped the envelope to match the inside of the card. I hope he enjoys his birthday card on his special day!

Weekly Stamping Session & Games!

Today my Aunt Tracy and I had our weekly stamping session. Since we don't live in the same state, we video chat to make projects when we cannot get together in person. Today we played a game, made washi tape votive candle holders, and talked about choosing a color palette.

My family is big on games - board games, cards, puzzles, word games, video games, etc. I shared a game I played at the monthly demonstrators' meeting with my mom and with my aunt. They loved it! It was a list of riddle-type questions related to the names of the Stampin' Up! colors. Some were puns. Some were funny. Some were really tricky. My mom loved the game so much that we make up two additional lists of questions!

Today, I am sharing the original game that started it all! There was no name or creator of the question listed. If this list of questions is yours, please let me know. My team leader shared this list with our group, but she didn't know where it came from either.

Download the Stampin' Up! Color Name Challenge #1 now to play along.

Aunt Tracy recently discovered washi tape! She loves candles too! So, she decorated a glass votive candle holder with Bohemian Washi Tape. These candle holders work best with the LED battery operated candles and not a real flame.

Here are the ones I made. The one on the left is Bohemian Washi Tape. Isn't it darling!?!? The one on the right is the soon to be released Affectionately Yours Washi Tape. Love it!! Can't wait for the new Annual Catalog in June!

Craft with Beth: Washi Tape Candle Holder

She also wanted to make a thank you card inspired by the Schoolhouse DSP. We talked about pulling inspiration from the colors that are already in the DSP and building from there. We also talked about using markers to color individual parts of a stamp and testing various combinations to see which one she liked the best. I cannot wait to see the finished card!

This reminded me of the Embellished Ornament card we made at a workshop last October. I CASED it directly from the 2015 Holiday Catalog. I thought it was too pretty not to copy and share!

Craft with Beth: Embellished Ornament Christmas Card

Sometimes, it can be difficult picking which colors to use, especially when there are so many fabulous choices! For this card, I wanted the same look as the catalog, but wasn't sure which colors the sample used for the leaves. So, I did some testing! I stamped the holly branch image in Old Olive ink multiple times onto scrap Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I colored them with different markers (labeling as I went).

Craft with Beth: Embellished Ornament Christmas Card Testing Color Schemes

I also tested the two-tone technique used on the ornament image. The stamp was inked with the lighter ink first. Then it was inked only on part of the stamp in the darker ink. Here I stamped the ornament image completely in Tempting Turquoise ink and then placed only the side(s) of the stamp in Pacific Point ink.

Craft with Beth: Embellished Ornament Christmas Card Testing Color Schemes

I brought my test samples to the workshop so that everyone could see how different each color changed the look of the card and to use it as a springboard for their own inspiration. I love how everyone interpreted the card differently!

Craft with Beth: Embellished Ornament Christmas Card

I apologize for such a long post! Thanks for sticking with me! I hope this inspires you to try different color combinations!
